Bathroom cabinet remodel

Remodeling your bathroom can be an easy way to add value to an older home or change the look of a newer home. A lot of the home improvement shows do these lavish remodels that cost thousands of dollars, but a modern bathroom can be achieved for less than $1,000. By saying that, I am making assumptions. 1) that you are not changing the layout or moving any walls. 2) that you don't have to move any plumbing or replace any wiring. 3) that you will be doing the work yourself. If all three of these factors do not come into play on your bathroom remodel than you are in good shape.

Let's start with the tile. Since most bathrooms typically have a small footprint, the quantity of tile needed won't be much, unless you are tiling the walls as well. Trick #1: shop around for closeout deals at discounts stores and home supply stores. Most stores and tile manufacturers will discount lines that have been closed out or that will no longer be carried. Since you won't need a large quantity of tile, it is usually pretty easy to find a style that you like without paying full price at the big box stores.

Next we will move onto the bathroom vanity or bathroom cabinet. There are a wide variety of styles and price ranges for bathroom vanities on the market. While the big home supply stores carry a lot of decorative vanities that come already assembled, you can actually get a higher grade cabinet and, save a lot of money by shopping on-line. Trick #2: search on-line for manufacturers and importers that sell direct to consumer. There are numerous RTA Bathroom vanity suppliers out there that are selling the same styles you see in Home Depot and Lowes, but they make them with better materials, and they can sell them cheaper by cutting out the middle man. RTA Bathroom Vanities come ready-to-assemble and the box is usually made of plywood rather than the particle board that the big stores use. You can easily save 30-40% by buying them direct and they usually have a full line of matching accessories to go along with them.

Once you have your flooring and bathroom vanity picked out, it time to move onto paint. Since it is a bathroom, and ther is going to be a lot of moisture in the air, it is best to go with a higher grade paint. As you may be well aware, paint can be expensive, even on a small room. Trick #3: search the discount aisle of the paint store first. The discount aisle is usually full of paints that were returned because it was the wrong color. Since the paint has already been mixed and is usually a color that they don't stock, they will sell these paints at a discount. By shopping the discount aisle you can save, as much as 25-30 %. A word of caution. Make sure that you know exactly how much paint you will need. The last thing you want to do start painting your bathroom and run out of a custom color!
